RN - PediatricsPOSITION
Summary:
Provides patient and family focused care as part of the health care team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in accordance with Sky lakes mission, philosophy, policies, and procedure while applying standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintains overall responsibility for patient care/ non RN employee's job performance on assigned unit and delegates patient care tasks to team members within respective practice parameters.
Evaluates/corrects/directs/redirects care and assignment of staff as patient needs, outcome and staffing activity dictate.
Identify and communicate unit staffing needs as per Nursing Department staffing matrix, patient acuity, professional judgment and reports valid inadequate staffing to management.
Gathers data, accurately documents information and observations that contribute to the patient's plan of care.
Set patient outcomes and evaluate progress.
Assures, as a responsible member of the total healthcare team, that nursing care is accomplished effectively and that the medical regime for each patient is carried out as prescribed by the physician in collaboration with other disciplines.
Participates with health care team members in facilitating patients and families learning throughout the hospital experience in preparation for discharge.
Reinforces patients continued health care through teaching and/or referral to case management/resource management for community agency follow-up.
Maintains a constant awareness of the legal aspects of nursing and demonstrates this in his/her decisions and documentation regarding patient care within the Registered Nurses scope of practice.
Demonstrates an awareness of cost containment and economical use of supplies and equipment.
Properly charges items as appropriate.
Demonstrates time management effectively.
Attends 75% of staff meetings, other meetings and in-services as requested.
Is accountable for information given.
Supervises, reviews and assists other team members in providing appropriate, timely care.
Listens to and resolves immediate problems/grievances of supervised non RN employees.
Recommend higher levels of discipline when appropriate.
Participates in peer evaluations, evaluates those supervised and recommends appropriate personnel action of work improvement plans.
Reports to Nursing Management any work performance problems, policy violations, or misconduct by coworkers on unit.
Provides ongoing education to hospital staff regarding patient care in the form of in-services and individual orientation to the philosophy of health care and health care procedures.
Participates in orientation of new personnel.
Participates in activities which promote professional growth and self-development and is evidenced in daily practice.
Maintains quality and efficiency standards as set by the immediate supervisor and makes recommendations for improvements.
Performs and maintains skills and competency on an annual basis in Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, Special Care Nursery, and Pediatrics as evidenced by completion of initial orientation, annual, and new procedure checklist.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
Willing to work varied hours with flexible schedules and every other weekend; Supplemental RN's must be available 50% day shift and 50% night shift; and Excellent communication skills both orally and written.
PREFERRED:
AHA ACLS certification; and Basic knowledge of psychosocial concepts and problem-solving skills.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Must maintain knowledge of and practice safe body mechanics.
Must be physically able to stoop, bend, reach and frequently lift 50 pounds or more.
Continuous walking and/or standing throughout shift required.
PAY RATE:
$41.
81 - $61.
