General Position SummaryPerforms professional environmental health work in conducting surveys, performing inspections/investigations, educating the public and assisting in the planning, promotion and execution of programs.

Education, Certification, & Experience EHS I- Trainee:
Bachelor's Degree with 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent semester hours, in science courses relating to environmental sanitation; transcript required to be submitted with application.
Registration from Oregon Health Licensing agency as an Environmental Health Specialist Trainee.
This position must become a Registered Environmental Health Specialist within 24 months.
EHS II- Registration from Oregon Health Licensing Board as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist.
Oregon Driver's License Environmental Health Specialist T (trainee) or REHS license Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

The pay range listed here reflects the FULL pay range for this position for the current fiscal year.
Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification.

It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on times each shift they are scheduled to work.

The Public Health Employee may be required to stay at or return to work during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to his/her position, or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position.
This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
Work schedules are assigned by management and may include holidays and weekends.
