07/06/2023Description JOB SUMMARYKlamath Community College is seeking adjunct faculty to teach forest ecology courses such as:
forest ecology, forest surveying, resource measurement, wildlife ecology, and/or dendrology, on a term-by-term basis beginning Fall 2023Courses are taught online.

Prepares fully for and teaches classes as assigned.
Implements appropriate grading policies and methods of student assessment to monitor and communicate academic progress.
Provides full information to students regarding course syllabi, objectives, texts, and materials required for the courses taught.
Maintains accurate records of student attendance and academic progress.
Recognizes individual differences in the classroom and adapts instructional techniques accordingly.
Communicates early with the student and the student's advisor or Dean regarding possible academic failure.
Assists students with academic difficulties including being available for consultation outside of class.
Encourages and motivates students in a positive manner to do their best.
Refers students to appropriate staff, office or resource person for information, guidance, financial assistance, placement, etc.
Understands and enforces regulations in the school catalog, student handbook, and student dress guidelines.
Reviewing and responding to questions from email and the classroom setting.
Work with the Program coordinator to discuss any changes or updates needed to the course(s).
Timely posting of grades to online gradebookAdherence to all college required attendance and grade posting dates.
Submits academic information such as course syllabi, final grade reports, grade changes, and mid-term deficiency grades on time to the appropriate person (registrar, dean, etc.
) utilizing the institutions reporting procedures.
Continues further professional development by keeping alert to changes within the field.
Attends scheduled faculty, department, and committee meetings as assigned.
Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally both orally and in writing.
Strong computer and information literacy skills.
Commitment to the effective use of technology in on-line learning environments Current knowledge teaching and learning theories and best practices Teaching experience in a community college setting preferred.
Knowledge of the Canvas learning management system preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONSMust be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Qualifications EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE Hold a master's degree with 3 years' work experience Hold a bachelor's degree with 5 years' recent work experience or professional competency by successfully teaching and working in forestry.
