3 years professional painting experience Valid driver's license Follow OSHA safety rules Become Lead Certified (paid by employer) Wear a respirator/N95 and pass medical evaluation Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Job Hazard Analysis, Job Orders, and procedures manuals Write routine reports and a correspondence Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form Knowledge of the equipment and applications of painting Color vision
Summary:
Applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
Duties Include:
Reads work orders or receives instructions from supervisor or homeowner regarding the painting project Smooths surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting Spreads drop clothes over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above the ground level Washes surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover Responsible for the cleanup of all job sites upon the end of each work day Conducts painting activities within federal, state, and local environmental rules and regulations All safety issues that arise will be resolved immediately or reduce the hazard and communicated The Jobs for Veterans Act affords priority of service to covered veterans and eligible spouses over non-covered persons for the receipt of employment, training, and placement services.
