Summary:
Under the supervision of the MRI Scheduling Supervisor/Clinical Office Manager, the MRI Scheduler performs a variety of duties necessary for the courteous and efficient servicing of patients.
Qualified candidates will be primarily responsible for all MRI scheduling.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Answer a large volume of phone calls from patients and referring physicians.
Answer all incoming phone calls in a professional manner.
Accurately take messages for radiologist or route calls as needed.
Accurately take short history from patient on the nature of the appointment, free of any spelling or grammatical errors.
Know the preparation and protocols for each exam being scheduled.
Accurately, appropriately, and efficiently schedule patients for MRI/CT scans upon request from referring physician.
Reviewing medical histories, current allergies and medications, safety screen patients for contraindications of MRI procedures.
Proficient in MRI terminology for procedures and diagnosis.
Immediately contact radiologist with any STAT request for referring physician and works to schedule patient.
Creates patient charts accurately and collects required demographic and clinical information.
Advises patient of insurance authorization and referral requirements.
Request medical records/clinical notes from referring physicians as needed for authorization/collections.
Check-in patients for procedures, screen, change and room for technologist.
Maintains the strictest patient and personal confidentiality and follows HIPPA guidelines.

Education/
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information to patients, physicians, manager of department, etc.
Bilingual Spanish Preferred, but not required.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Computer Skills:
Knowledge of modern office equipment, systems and procedures, including computer skills and type efficiently; an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Knowledge of medical software is a plus.

This is a fast paced environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is working in a typical office environment.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
