Does follow-up work on all ER, outpatient, and inpatient registrations.
Directs patient transport, compiles patient census data, and performs cashier duties.
Maintains patient confidentiality and maintains professional appearance to insure patient and public confidence.
QUALIFICATIONS Required:
50 wpm keyboard skills, Excellent spelling, math, and problem solving skills; Communicate effectively orally, Ability to organize work and attend to detail; and 1 year clerical experience including reception, telephone skills and filing.
Preferred:
Medical terminology and data entry and third party billing experience.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS Medium physical demand level capabilities required.
Must be able to work independently as well as with coworkers, other staff professionals, guild volunteers, patients and visitors.
Must be able to prioritize work, organize time efficiently and attend to detail.
Must be able to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time.
Have the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, push wheelchair with up to 250 pounds, and assist a patient in and out of a chair, wheelchair, or from an automobile, and ride in an elevator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Interviews patient or representative in person or by telephone to obtain registration or pre-registration information.

Prepares identification bracelet as well as paperwork used during patient care and routes to the appropriate area in a timely manner.
Responds to the special needs of the patient, family, visitors, and guild.
Identifies patient concerns and contacts appropriate department for resolution.
Participates in the training of new employees in all functions of position plus ancillary areas.
Participates in departmental meetings and discussions.
Keeps personal issues separate from work issues.
Demonstrates competence in relation to the defined mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the organization.
This will be apparent by ongoing completion of any or all of the following:
proficiency testing, skill demonstration, practice of core standards for service excellence, and documentation review.
Willing and able to learn and perform extra duties as assigned.
Covers the Communication Center's breaks on the night shift.
Performs routine, emergency and code paging according to established procedures.
Monitors hospital environmental system alarms and security systems and notifies responsible department for corrective action.
