MEMBERSHIP IN THE NATIONAL GUARD IS REQUIRED: This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in the Oregon National Guard as a condition of employment. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Unit of military assignment is any supporting unit of 173 FW. Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. Acceptance of a permanent or indefinite position with the Oregon National Guard will cause termination from any Guard Recruitment Bonus or Guard paid student loan. INTRODUCTORY:
This position is located in ANG Aviation Wing (F-15), Aircraft Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron/Flight, Avionics Flight Line Element. The primary purpose of this position is to perform trouble analysis, functional tests, and evaluate operational characteristics, repairs, modifications, and final alignments on the electronically multi-integrated avionics systems of the F-15 aircraft.
MAJOR DUTIES:
(1) Performs trouble analysis; functionally tests and evaluates operational characteristics, isolates malfunctions; repairs, modifies and performs final alignments of a multiple electronic avionics system complex consisting of several extensively integrated systems which form complex electronic information loops on the F-15 aircraft. Reviews and analyzes malfunctions encountered through questioning aircrews and evaluates operational characteristics by applying a broad range of technical data to determine nature and validity of malfunctions. Examines system failure based on an extensive practical knowledge of electronics and the multi-system complex. Devises repair procedures and isolates to specific components. Repairs systems by replacing sensors, transducers, wiring, coax/triax cables, data transmission lines, waveguides, line replaceable units, and a variety of other peripheral parts and assemblies. Uses extensive systems analysis to recommend engineering facilities for improvements on software, hardware changes and for improvements on existing systems. Ensures compatibility of items with each other and with their interfaces. After repair is accomplished, performs operational tests and final alignment as required. Inspects completed maintenance to ensure compliance of technical directives. Performs preventive maintenance through overhauls and periodic inspections on the electronic multiple integrated avionics systems of the F-15 aircraft.
(2) Interprets and analyzes waveforms, voltage/current/power indications, computer printouts, optical presentations, and instrument readings. Utilizes test and support equipment such as signal analyzer, logic analyzer, microwave signal generators, oscilloscopes, time domain reflectometers, capacitance testers, digital multi-meters and voltmeters, power meters, power supplies, computer program controller loader and verifier, and laptop computers. Modifies and updates avionics support equipment and support software according to applicable technical publications. Functionally tests and analyzes program data and determines if the application meets desired operational characteristics. Examines recurring malfunctions and software deficiencies. Formulates repair procedures based on findings and recommends program changes, procedural changes, or data corrections to correct software deficiencies. Recommends revisions to technical publications based on analysis of test data. Produces, assembles, operates, and repairs experimental systems, using breadboard prototypes, locally produced technical drawings, and analyzes test results for use in future modifications.
(3) Performs modifications, repairs, calibrations, fault isolations, and final alignment of electronic multiple integrated system complexes on the F-15 aircraft. Accomplishes Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO), which involves hardware and software modifications to multiple integrated electronic systems. Reviews and analyzes the changes; troubleshoots, recommends changes to the technical data as necessary since the nature of the modifications changes the overall operational characteristics of the system being updated. Adapts and recommends changes such as extending the technical data provided to establish the interrelationships of the total system complex when technical data may refer only to specific portions of the complete integrated systems. Obtains additional training and increased responsibility to maintain an ever-expanding integrated electronic complex.

Work involved in rebuilding, overhauling, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, calibrating, aligning and maintaining integrated electronic systems. Analyzes and evaluates complete system operation using a variety of general and specific test equipment, self-test and self-calibration computer programs and/or technical data containing schematic diagrams, signal flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, test procedures, program information and mathematical formulas. Accomplishes checks, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment and analyzing of electronic integrated systems. Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data and maintenance procedures.
Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electronic theories and practices to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in one or more complex integrated systems where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace back through a number of units of the system to locate deficiencies. Thorough knowledge of principles of digital and analog circuits, electro-mechanical devices, solid state devices, digital techniques, synchro/servo operation and integrated circuit theory. Ability to interpret and trace schematics, logic and wiring diagrams and use a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).

Experience:
Applicants applying at the WG-12/13 level must have _18 months_ of general and specialized experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic integrated systems equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic integrated systems equipment. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
